Economic sociology challenges
The importance of the revived and rapidly developed economic sociology is hardly a secret to Central and South East European researchers. Last two decades invested in the advancement of the understanding of markets, network forms of organization, firms or game theory are looked upon with great interest in transitional countries of the region now trying not to fall short in explaining the conducive factors to entrepreneurship development or the EU institutions' role in economic life. New emerging topics like economic sociology of law and challenges like bringing closer stratification theory and economic sociology, understanding role of technology and it's innovations or the concepts of productivity or that of sustainability are inviting wider participation from various fields. Interdisciplinarity heavily depends on the economic conditions and institutional status of the field ; but in the region one can't easily find more than one person at any department working in the field of economic sociology despite it's huge popularity among students or subfield recognition established in the profession. Economic sociology's agenda blossoming with new topics has great prospects if followed by increasing importance and institutional status.
