Role of Women in Euro-Atlantic Integrations - The Case of Croatia
Euro-Atlantic integrations connect developed democratic countries and nations that share similar or identical social and political goals through political and security organisation. One of the most significant goals is connected with the equality between women and men. As long time ago as 1995, the then Secretary General of the Council of Europe Daniel Tarchys, stressed the issue of gender equality as a basic political issue in the modern European society that should be paid special attention. Nowadays, general consent about the issue is unquestionable ; however problems are present in accomplishment, regardless of whether it concerns countries with developed democratic traditions or not. There have been numerous scientific attempts to explain the reasons for the situation. This is why one of the key challenges of the process of democratisation in Europe is not only the adoption of policies of gender equality but also successful implementation of these policies.
