Improving Mobility for Better Education Opportunities - Case of the Faculty of Teacher Education at the University of Zagreb (Croatia)

As the so-called Bologna Process is an inter-governmental process aiming to create the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) by 2010, this work mainly explains Case of the Faculty of Teacher Education at the University of Zagreb (Croatia) in Bologna Process of improving Mobility for Better Education Opportunities. The overarching Faculty objectives of the process were to create a comparable and increasingly converged system of graduate and post-graduate education, in order to maximise transferability and mobility of staff and students and to increase the international competitiveness of the Faculty through similar systems of Higher Education (Croatian, Regional, and European). Work gives best examples for different Faculty concepts: enabling graduates to develop multicultural skills and increasing the quality of universities and faculties programs (www.lecee.eu and www.ecnsi.hr). Work discusses mainly two effects that raise quality of education: isolated effects and composition effects. Promotion of mobility (www.ufzg.hr): (a) Bologna Process and Faculty concept of reforms, including the establishment of a system of credits and development of qualifications frameworks all serve to facilitate mobility across Croatia, Region and Europe. (b) The Faculty concept of mobility of students, academics and administrative staff was seen as the “ basis for establishing the EHEA” (The Erasmus Programme ; Promotion of European co-operation in quality assurance ; Lifelong Learning and International Projects).
