Tendencies in Visual Research. Bit International - [Nove] Tendencije: Computer and Visual Research. Zagreb 1961 – 1973
The international movement of Nove tendencije [New Tendencies], which counts among the brightest episodes in Croatian contemporary art, evolved during the 60s and early 70s through five exhibitions organised at the Gallery of Contemporary Art (today’ s Museum of Contemporary Art) in Zagreb. Researchers of this period are justified in emphasizing the impact of the Party doctrine that was prominent at the time – the so-called "scientific socialism", which was in the early 60s endorsed by the more liberal technocratic wing of the Communist Party. Without its influence, it would have probably been impossible to organize international exhibitions and symposia or to reflect actively on the new technologies in the context of art, which was the key concern of Nove tendencije.
