Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis in childhood: symptoms and importance of high resolution CT
Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM) is a rare disease of unknown etiology. It is caracterised by intraalveolar calcificates diffusely arranged in the lungs. Until 1996 only 35 cases of PAM in children under 12 years of age were reported. Here we emphasise the importance of high-resolute CT in the diagnostic, monitoring and evaluation of the terapeutical effect in children with PAM.
