Development of Entrepreneurship in Croatia: Problems and Challenges
In the process fo the development of the Croatian economy, small business plays an important role. The share of small businesses in the total number of business entities amounts to 83.1% and the number of persons employed amounts to 66.6% of total employment. However, the environment in which small businesses act is not sufficiently stimulative. The results of the research carried out to discover the attitudes and opinions of responsible persons in counties, towns and municipalities on the activities of stimulating entrepreneurship by responsible government institutions are very negative and the problems which were present two or three years ago have not dissapeared. We expect that with the organization of educational training, which is under way, and with the greater investment of financial means into the development of small business, which has continously taken place since 1997, the situation in this significant sector or the economy will gradually improve.
