How to guide nanoparticles in the cell
A promise of nanotechnology in medicine is to develop novel nanosystems which would on noninvasive way early detect, and then selectively destroy or save diseased cells. For targeted therapy, a nanosystem is supposed to reach specific cell population in the tissue and upon entering the cell, to reach specific subcellular organelle where the therapeutic intervention is needed. To achieve this goal understanding of cellular fate of therapeutic nanosystem and ability to control its subcellular distribution is of a crucial interest. Aim of this study was to prepare and characterize hybrid nanosystem consisting of nanomaterial functionalized with biomolecules, and to investigate the fate of such nanosystem in the cell depending on the molecules attached on the surface.
