I am the Language I Speak: Bilingualism and Identity
As a follow up of the study 'Bilingualism and emotions’ (Dewale & Pavlenko, 2001, 2003), this research - conducted among the students of English at the Universities of Rijeka and Trieste - shows a twofold correlation between language and identity: 1) in terms of the subjective perception of the personality of the speaker based on the language spoken ; 2) in terms of this perception and the psychological profile of the language user.
bilingualism; perception of self; language – thought – emotion relationship
