Sažetak
The paper presents the application possibilities, advantages and drawbacks of absorption chillers and heat pumps in HVAC system in the North Adriatic area. The three main aspects are emphasized. The first one is the technical aspect of development of gas supply pipelines network, and technical available solutions, i.e. availability of absorption equipment at the market. The second aspect is the application possibility and limitation of absorption technology in the HVAC systems. Particularly consideration has been given to the application of absorption chillers in heat pump function or in cooling mode with heat recovery. Environmental impact analyses have been done with comparison between compression and absorption chillers. The third important factor that exerts significant influence on widespread applications of absorption technology are market conditions as well as cost for equipment, maintenance and energy consumption during exploitations. The feasibility analyses show that the market conditions are not yet enough stimulative for widespread applications of absorption chillers. The gas and electricity energy price ratio in which the absorption technology application would be more cost efficient have been calculated.
