Management Ergolect - Language of Social Power
The entire research into corporate power emphasises the significance of the public demonstration of managerial action and perception. Through the use of management ergolect (ME) both requirements, for public knowledge and public perception, are satisfied. The use of professionalisms in ME confirms the ties between language, thought and culture. Professionalisms fix cultural meanings, encode stereotypes and give them credibility, and help create a new reality. Through verbal communication ME speakers have developed a semiotic system in which professionalisms represent cultural values. This results in the maintenance and improvement of public image of corporate managers and in asserting their doctrine and their ideological values as the only appropriate ones.
