The importance of e-learning for part-time students

In today’s competitive and evolving world, the importance of education has never been more important. People are now more aware of the continuing need to improve one’s self through adult learning. Due to factors such as time constraint, e-learning has quickly emerged as an alternative means of continuing education. As globalization continues to be the trend these days, more and more people feel the need to learn at least one foreign language. Again, due to the fast-paced lives many lead today, online courses present a viable alternative to the traditional face to face, or classroom, language learning. The purpose of this research was to investigate the importance of e-learning amongst part-time students of different academic levels. We conducted a longitudinal study with first, second and third year students, in order to determine the level of importance of e-learning. Our questionnaire contained a mix of question types, in which the students were asked to estimate the usefulness of long-distance learning of Business English. The main findings suggested that our students are aware of the importance of using the time-saving opportunities provided by e-learning. We also found that the awareness and frequency of use of e-learning rises with each academic year.
