Implementation of outsourcing

The increasing competition in the business world is constantly forcing companies to make rapid changes as well as to constantly re-examine their strengths in order to focus on the core skills and competencies. Therefore, the companies decide on the dependence on the market changes in order to be able to focus on their main activity, i.e. the "core business", whereas secondary activities are then outsourced. Outsourcing can be defined as strategic use of external partner with the aim of performing activities which are traditionally the responsibility of internal staff and resources. Benefits brought by outsourcing can be observed by allowing the company management to focus on the major and strategic issues and tasks, increase of competitiveness of a company, reduction of costs and introduction of advanced technologies. After having made the decision on outsourcing a certain function, the most important task is to select the supplier. It is precisely the selection of the supplier which is crucial for the success of outsourcing. Therefore, multi-criteria method should be applied so as to insure that the selected supplier would meet all the expectations and the set objectives. The final phase of outsourcing is the implementation which requires clear definition and identification of tasks, as well as the definition of implementation scheduling. It is necessary to establish a mechanism for control and evaluation of the performance which is important not only for the implementation phase but also for the subsequent realization of the process following the implementation, so that both parties would be sure that they are getting what they should be getting.
