Unusual congenital laryngeal web in 11-year-old child

This case report describes an unusually situated congenital laryngeal web in the middle portion of glottis in 11-year-old boy. The child was born as a premature infant. Permanent hoarseness was present from very beginning. During the childhood he suffered from breathing problems, especially after physical efforts. Laryngoscopic examination at the age of 11 years revealed uniformly thin laryngeal web with sharp edges, in the middle portion of glottis. The anterior commisure was free and web was excised with micro scissors. After the operation the child had no respiratory disturbances and the quality of his voice was significantly improved as shown by acoustic analysis.
