Organizational Discourse: A Language-Ideology-Power Perspective
The underlying argument of this book is that corporations to function have to create order, an order founded not on coercion but on consent. Corporations are able to do this through ideologies founded on social values which are meaningful to corporations' stakeholders. Corporate ideologies are institutionalised through corporate public discourse, for example, mission statement, media interview, corporate annual report, etc. This book is a transdisciplinary project in the sense that it offers new knowledge on the use of organisational discourse by corporate management, the knowledge which at the same time greatly contributes to other (seemingly distant) fields of study, for example, sociolinguistics, critical discourse studies, and English studies.
