Effectiveness of clusters in Croatian economy
The goal of this paper is to analyze existing situation in Croatia regarding clusters: number of clusters, their activities, policies of fostering their forming, institutional background. The author has researched activities within three wood clusters in Croatia. The results emphasized the insufficient development of clusters and cluster initiatives in Croatian economy, and confirmed the need for qualitative and professional knowledge in cluster formation. The survey results have indicated the fact that there are only two out of three clusters and that only one of them operates like it is supposed to. Therefore, the initiatives towards establishment of a National Center for Clusters and professional education for cluster managers are very important for Croatian economy.
