Generation of measles virus subgenomic RNA in human diploid and Vero cell culture and their presence in attenuated live measles virus vaccine
Almost all negative stranded RNA viruses cause the occurrence of the subgenomic RNA. Live measles virus vaccines are attenuated by several passages in different animal cell cultures. Repeated passages of undiluted virus stock can generate detectable subgenomic RNA, whose fequency is influenced by the virus strain, cell type and virus passage history. A systematic study was made to detect the different size of RNA in the attenuated live measles virus Edmonston-Zagreb vaccine.
