New potentiometric sensors for determination of low levels of anionic and nonionic surfactants in effluents
High sensitive potentiometric sensor for determination of anionic and a new one for nonionic surfactants have been developed. Anionic surfactants determination was down to 10-5 (10-6) mol/L, and nonionic down to 10-5 mol/L, without no sample pretreatment, except filtration when it was necessary. Equivalence point was calculated using extended least-squares regression formalism of the Savitzky-Golay method. The results for anionic surfactants agree satisfactory with standard extraction-spectrophotometric MBAS method and are comparable with the results obtained using a commercially available surfactant electrode. The accuracy and precision of the surfactants determination has been evaluated by using standard addition method.
