Melissopalynologycal, Physicochemical and Sensory Characteristic of Honey of Three Floral Species in Croatia
The palynological and physicochemical properties of samples of amorpha (Amorpha fruticosa L.), goat willows (Salix caprea L.) and golden-rod (Solidago serotina L.) honeys commercially produced in Croatia have been defined. Each sample was examined to determine the total pollen content and percentage of pollen grains. On the basis of honey pollen analysis, samples were excluded as they were different botanical origin. The pollen analysis of three honeys revealed one unifloral honey and two multifloral honeys. Codex Alimentarius and EU directive allow specific denomination to honey for particular sources (as unifloral honeys), but they do not specify the characteristic of various honey types. Most of fifteen mentioned selected honey for IHC (International Honey Commission) are widely spread in Croatia. All analysis was performed using methods in accordance with national and international legislative, in an accredited laboratory.
