Sažetak
Higher quality of the requires more than ever sophisticated artificial structure as replacements for diseased part of the body. One example of the complex artificial structure is textile vascular grafts. the critical place is connection between blood vessel and graft. From mechanical point view it is cylindrical stitched – slip joint under action of the pulsatile blood flow. A discontinuity in elastic properties and in cross – sectional area cause reflection of the blood pressure wave (loss of energy), and local haemodynamics phenomena (flow separation and turbolence). The purpose of this work is to study structural integrity of this stitched part experimentally and numerically. By tensile, burst and peel tests effect of the macroscopic geometry on the joint strength had been experimentally determined. The study includes influence of the stitching density, stitching span, stitching pattern and the stiffness of stitching thread on static strength. A two – level finite element method had been used in order to examine the effects of stitching parameters on the joining strength. The special macroelement consists is a number of subelements to account for the microstructure details inside individual elements. At macroscopical level the stitching yarn was considered as an aggregate of the bar elements 3D orientation, while the artery and graft were modelled as shell – like elements. The microstructure element of the graft has been chosen as typical element for the knitted structure. The blood vessel on the microstructure scale is fibrous bar structure in ground matrix. The complexity of the proposed numerical model provided a better physical picture for understanding of the stress, strain and strain energy density distribution. It was found that there were two basic ways to improve the strength of the stitching joint. One was to use high – density stitching joints, other was to use longer span chain stitching joints.
