Sažetak
New Croatian standards and regulations for concrete structures define concrete compressive strength classes up to class C100/115. Concrete of compressive strength higher than C100/115 are called ultra high strength concrete (UHSC). Presently, only few countries (France, Japan and Germany) have issued recommendations for production, design, construction and conformity assessment of UHSC. However, these recommendations quite differ one from another. Therefore, FIB has formed working group whose task is making one unique recommendations for UHSC. Furthermore, none of existing recommendations for UHSC has defined conversion factors for testing of compressive and bending strength on samples of different shapes and sizes. This is very important because one of the basic problems of testing UHSC is load capacity of testing equipment and it is recommended to perform tests on smaller samples. Beside that, standard dimensions of smaller samples, according to which conversion factors would be calculated, have not been yet defined. In this paper experimental research of UHSC, in which a certain number of concrete mixes was made, is described. In concrete mixes parameters that mostly affect on mechanical properties of UHSC were varied (e.g. amount of steel fibres, aggregate/binder ratio, maximum grain size and water/binder ratio). Furthermore, compressive and bending strengths of UHSC samples of different shapes and sizes were determined. Based on the test results, mechanical properties of samples cured in water and heat-treated samples were compared and conversion factors for compressive and bending strength were assessed.
