Repair works in dam stilling by using high performance concrete

Pumping hydropower station (HS) Velebit is plant situated near the Adriatic coast. Powerhouse of HS Velebit is situated 11 m high above sea level near river Zrmanja. Next to powerhouse, bottom dam lake Razovac is located. It was made by reconstruction of Zrmanja valley with earthfill dam. Due to multi-year use (more than 20 years) of HS Velebit, damage on concrete sections of Razovac dam stilling basin has occurred. The damage was erosion and it was caused mainly by abrasion. In this paper repair material selection and repair technology of Razovac dam stilling repair is described. Material selected for repair is high performance concrete (HPC) reinforced with polypropylene fibres. During writing of this paper all activities on Razovac dam stilling repair have not been finished due to unfavourable weather conditions. Using of polypropylene fibres in concrete for repair works in Razovac dam is continuation of multi-year application of polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete in Croatia. Therefore, in addition, in this paper some examples of practical use of polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete in Croatia are presented.
