Influence of R-NAV routes on the Zagreb FIR capacity

This paper gives a comparison analysis of air traffic in the FIR Zagreb before and after the introduction of the RNAV route standard within FIR Zagreb, as just one of the possible solutions of air traffic capacity increase, which is based on the indicators and data of the Department for Air Traffic Planning, Organization and Use of Airspace (Croatia Control Ltd.). It provides a description of the concrete benefits of RNAV route implementation in air traffic flows and the capacity of single sectors of Zagreb FIR in concrete conditions. The paper also presents the solution of concrete conflict points that had occurred at the intersections of airways, and secondary, the tendency of permanent development and monitoring of trends as well as improvement of air traffic control and air traffic system with the European regulations, which is at the same time the fundamental orientation of the Republic of Croatia in her further development.
