Sažetak
The blends of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic copolyester (AAC) were prepared and their physical, thermal and mechanical properties were studied. The biodegradation in the presence of lipase Rhisopus arrhisus or Candida Cilindracea was monitored as well. Physical properties of the blends, such as density and softening temperature, are between those of each component. DSC measurements show that the blend components were completely amorphous and miscible. Obviously, PVC suppresses the crystallization of partially crystalline copolyester. AAC is thermally more stable component and it seems that improves the thermooxidative stability of PVC in the blends. Rhisopus arrhisus and Candida cilindracea with no doubt catalyze the ester hydrolysis of AAC, although PVC matrix limits the rate and extent of the hydrolysis.
