Theoretical basis of the gel "memory effect" and its implications on the controlling of the particulate properties of zeolites

An analysis of the particulate processes during crystallization of zeolites from hydrogels showed a self-preserving of particulate properties at any stage of the crystallization. This phenomenon, known as the gel “ memory effect” is closely related with the autocatalytic nucleation of zeolites. An equation, which shows that crystal size distribution of the crystalline end product, does not depend on the crystallization conditions for a constant number and distribution of nuclei in the gel matrix, is developed. In this work, the consequence of the gel “ memory effect” on the controlling of the particulate processes/properties during hydrothermal crystallization of zeolites was shown.
