Analysis of the screen value in indirect digital offset
In this paper we analyze dot gain on prints prepared by HP Indigo Digital Color Offset which exploit pigmented ink ElectroInk Mark 3.1. During experiment we used printing substrates with different surface roughness. Screening was performed by means of standard HP Indigo algorithm (superpixel 6x6 which form amplitude modulated screen elements with 144 lpi). Estimation of dot gain values was performed with evaluating prints in macro and micro conditions, i.e. they were performed by means of two methods: standard densitometric (analysis of larger areas with a number of screen elements) and special microscopic (analysis of small area with one screen element). Dot gain results were mutually compared, as well as with standard linear pattern defined by ISO 136600 method (Screen Reproduction Analysis).
