Experience with Teaching and Learning Formal Description Techniques at BTU and FER

In our paper we give a motivation for teaching FDTs at Universities. We describe exercises used for teaching FDTs at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at Zagreb and at the chair Computer Networks and Communication Systems at Cottbus. The above mentioned exercises have the following goals: making the students familiar with FDTs and with protocol engineering problems and their solutions. Additionally we report on students’ results and their reaction and also on reaction of industry.
