Cargo Flows Intensity, Structure and Dynamics on Rijaka's Traffic Route
Actual cargo flows are the most advisable basis for analysing and forecasting the cargo demand on traffic route. Also, intensity, structure and dynamics of cargo flows represent the main indicators for transport route competitiveness on transport service market. Rijeka’ s traffic route is corridor of vital importance for Croatian traffic and economic system. Therefore, with intention to get concrete conclusions about actual, potential and interest market of the Rijeka’ s traffic route, in this paper are analysed relevant indicators of traffic growth and dynamics of the cargo flows. On the basis of relevant statistical data, in this paper are analysed cargo flows according to intensity (quantity of cargo flows), structure (depending on cargo type and cargo flow directions), and dynamics (quantity of cargo flows within certain period of time). Since port of Rijeka is a referred transit point of Rijeka’ s traffic route, particular attention is given to analysis of the port traffic. According to the fact that Central Europe is an important gravitational area and strategic market segment of the Rijeka’ s traffic route, in paper are also analysed overseas directions of cargo flows from Central European transit back. Research results give conclusions about cargo flows, potential traffic demand and traffic market which gravitate to analysed traffic route.
