Fuel Economy through Improving the Furnace Temperature Regime

Aiming to improve the control and efficiency of the heating process of steel load in rotary- hearth furnace, situated before the seamless tubes rolling mill, a computational approach to describe this process has been developed and verified by experiments under operational conditions. The paper presents the results of experimental and numerical investigations to establish operational conditions through optimizing the temperature regime under which the rotary-hearth furnace, situated before the seamless tubes rolling mill, should be operated in order to maximize the thermal efficiency.
