Sažetak
Every day we are witnessing an increase in the number of passenger cars on the streets of the city of Zagreb, whereas the number of public urban transport users is decreasing. The reasons for this are numerous, and one of the crucial ones is the dissatisfaction with the services offered by the public urban transport. As one of the solutions with the existing traffic infrastructure is the application of telematic technologies with elements of intelligence in managing the entire traffic at urban level. One of the possible solutions is presented in this work. Automatic traffic control in public transport of passengers understands firstly direct comparison of the actual current position of the vehicle on the line and the position that it should have regarding the schedule, traffic control of vehicle occupancy by passengers, as well as visual control of vehicle behaviour in traffic. Along with these starting assumptions the used telematic methods with the present elements of intelligence and the usage of the latest technological possibilities have made it possible for public passenger transport to realize the following objectives: increase of the attractiveness of public transport, as well as its recognition by the passengers on the basis of quality. (Achieving maximum punctuality and regularity, safety improvement of changing connection, and better provision of information to passengers on board, at the station). Similarly, the service provider also realizes some benefits: simplification of the working process and increase of efficiency. (Optimization of using the vehicle and personnel, optimization of the travel time, early diagnostics of the operating and technical malfunctions, and finally, increase in flexibility since the vehicle can be used as needed.).
