Colour and Wetting properties of Wood Modified by Citric Acid
Beech and fir sapwood were modified by citric acid (CA) using sodium hypophosphite (SHP) as catalyst at 180 °C. Influence of thermal and citric acid modification of beech and fir sapwood on wetting, surface free energy and colour changes were investigated. Wetting properties and surface free energy were determined using contact angle obtained by the sessile drop method. Wetting of water on beech wood increased after modification by CA, but on fir wood wetting of water decreased after modification
