Sažetak
Tribomechanical activated zeolite (TMAZ) is produced in patented machine by tribomechanical processing for high activation of zeolite. This present paper is an attempt to apply nanoparticles of activated natural mineral zeolite (clinoptilolite) for achieving the material with high antibacterial and UV protection. Clinoptilolite is nontoxic natural material with properties of a cation exchanger and adsorbent of proteins and small molecules such as glucose. It has multiple uses in industry and agriculture, while the broad spectrum of medical uses still under the research. It was recently published that the high content of SiO2 zeolite is potentially a new antioxidant which seems to have bigger capacity than already known antioxidants. Zeolites are now considered to be full-fledged mineral commodities, the use of which promise to expand even more in the near future. In the present paper the light cotton knitted fabric was mercerized, treated with TMAZ for better antimicrobial and UV protection. The high UPF results confirmed that nanoparticles of natural zeolite have important role in achieving high level protection of textiles even in the lighter fabrics. Antimicrobial test used showed the high antibacterial effects when nanoparticles of zeolite were applied in the finishing of cotton fabrics.
