UV zaštita nanočesticama zeolita na modificiranoj poliesterskoj tkanini
The new textile applications for achieving the materials for human performance (medical, protective and sports) is one of nine themes according the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles. The present paper is an attempt to apply nanoparticles of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) on polyester fabric for achieving the material with high level of UV protection. Clinoptilolite has a cage-like structure consisting of high portion of SiO2 (60-67 %). Zeolite in this paper refers to activated particles of clinoptilolite produced by tribomechanical processing in the patented machine. Such product has a high fraction (80 %) of nanoparticles. For such purpose natural zeolite with high fraction of nanoparticles was applied on polyester fabrics in different treatments. In the present paper polyester fabrics were washed and/or modified by alkaline hydrolysis in sodium hydroxide with addition of accelerator. Fabric was than treated with nanoparticles of zeolite with/without optical brightener addition in the impregnation float by thermosol method for expected and achieved better UV protection. The capability of UV protection of the polyester fabric - modified, optical bleached and treated with zeolite nanoparticles after drying and thermosoling was determined according to AS/NZS 4399:1996 using transmission spectrophotometer Cary 50 (Varian). The impact of zeolite on fabric whiteness and fluorescence was discussed.
