Influence of the pseudogap on the Nernst coefficient in Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2Cu3Oy

We have studied the temperature dependence of the Nernst coefficient ( ) in the Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2Cu3Oy superconductor. The sample has been measured at three different levels of the oxygen content, in the over-, optimally-, and under-doped state. The most prominent feature of the  (T) dependence that develops along with oxygen/doping reduction is fall of the Nernst coefficient value just below T* -- the temperature we expect to see an influence of the pseudogap. This behavior can be understand in terms the relaxation time approximation and suggests that the the superconducting fluctuations are not the origin of the pseudogap state.
