Network Performance Monitoring and Utilization Measurement

Computer intensive applications require efficient monitoring of computer networks. It can be enabled by operational analysis. In addition to other parameter, utilization measurement of a local network was carried out for a period of 24 hours and by artificially generated continuous workload and at varying workload caused by normal and increased use of network applications. Regardless of rather high network workload, the commutated network proved its resistance to collisions and errors. It shows also tendency to a change of utilization depending on the load itself. Utilization diagrams show a true behavior pattern of particular network segments. Utilization changes show certain regularity by means of which future changes of performances might be foreseen.
