Medicinal plants and their preparations are for sure the first substances in medicine that had been used by men for healing. And so use of the medicinal plants in veterinary medicine has long tradition. After the abandoning usage of plants in therapy, contemporary veterinary medicine increases use of phytoteraphy in prevention, healing and maintaining of health in domestic animals in ecological breeding, but also in other animals especially pets. Breeders that do ecological production are forced to use alternative forms of healing because the use of antibiotics, hormones and other pharmacological preparations is not always permitted because of residues in meat and milk (regulations of ecological production of products of animal origin, NN 13/02).
