An occurenceof isopode parasitism on black scorpion fish, Scorpaena porcus (Perciformes, Scorpaenidae) in the eastern part of Adriatic Sea

Several specimens of the black scorpionfish, Scorpaena porcus collected in 2006 from the south and middle Adriatic, were found to be parasitized by two species of cymothoid isopods, Nerocila bivittata and Livoneca punctata. Isopods were found during examination of specimens of S. porcus from the fish collection and they were removed from the specimens and their location was noted. A total of three specimens representing two isopod species were found on and in 3 fish specimens. Overall, 3 of 60 fish specimens (5%) were infested with one isopod parasite. Two specimens of Nerocila bivittata, lenght 1, 4 and 1, 8 cm, were found at the base of the dorsal and caudal fin. The second species, Livoneca punctata, was found in host gills under operculum. No tissue damage was noticed.
