Mathematical Modeling of Spline Hob-backed off as a Basis for CAD & CAM

Using all parameters i.e. form, geometry and dimensions, of a groove spindle and parameters of parallel side spline hobs with lugs i.e. external diameter, number of teeth, divisions, tooth lead and form of tooth, we derived mathematical equations for edges, back-relieved surfaces and front surfaces in an adequate coordinate system and got basis for optimization, design and manufacturing of the spline hob.
