Social entrepreneurship and social responsibility in Croatian companies
In classical political economy profit is recognized as a dominant factor of business activities and one of the standard indicators of business success, while modern approach to the evaluation of the business results takes in consideration both financial and non-financial measures. Corporate Performance Measurement usually includes such factors as “ profit per share” , ” pre-tax profit” or “ shareholders equity” , but key performance indicators for the socially responsible organizations should be stretched to the other aspects of business operations, though such indicators are not easily quantifiable. Customers satisfaction, learning abilities, or ecological responsibility, can be successfully added to the financial indicators and thus show the level of organization’ s care for the stakeholders’ interest. Authors describe the development of social responsibility in Croatian organizations and deal with public support to the social responsibility. Standardization of social responsibility, though rarely adopted, can improve the general level of corporate governance.
