Religiosity in Croatia from 1997 to 2006. Religious re-traditionalization as a dominant trend?

The main topic of this paper is an analysis of religious changes in the contemporary Croatian society. The paper is mostly based on the results of the international empirical research &laquo ; Church and Religion in an enlarged Europe&raquo ; conducted during the year 2006 on the representative sample of 968 Croatian citizens (48.5% male and 51.5% female). These results are compared with the results from other researches, like international ones, &laquo ; Aufbruch&raquo ; (1997) and the European Value Study (1999), as well as the national one, &laquo ; Modernization and Identity in Croatian Society&raquo ; (2004). Although the results suggest that the religious re-traditionalization as a main trend noticed already in the beginning of the 1990s continues to dominate the Croatian religious landscape, the paper questions in some respect this conclusion and discusses the possibilities for its continuation in the future.
