Occlusion of Vertebral Artery, Cerebellar Infarction and Obstructive Hydrocephalus following Cervical Spine Manipulation
Cervical spine manipulations take on the risk of many, potentially fatal neurological complications. A case of the vertebral artery occlusion, cerebellar infarction and consecutive obstructive hydrocephalus caused by cervical manipulation is presented in 46-years old healty male patient without any obvious risk factors for cerebrovascular disease. The diagnosis was made based on a combination of anamnesis and clinical examination, carotid and vertebral artery color Doppler examination and brain computed tomography examination, while the vertebral artery occlusion was confirmed by multislice computed tomography angiography. Besides taking medications, the implantation of external vetricular drainage was performed.
