JOB SATISFACTION IN OPATIJA'S RESTAURANTS: A THEORETICAL AND EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS
The catering industry is labour intensive and human resorces issues are consequently particulary relevant. The restaurant employee's position is particular since he or her represents the inseparable component of the restaurant's product/service equation and the possibility of substituting his or her work very limited. The main objective of this study was to identify the level job satisfaction among restaurant employees and related problem areas. The target population of this study was employees in 27 restaurants located in the Opatija Riviera. This particular Riviera was chosen bacause of the long catering tradition of the area and high service standards. The highest level of job satisfaction was measured for the dimension "colleques". As expected, the lowest satisfaction was with the "present pay". It was established that socio-demographic characteristics do not significantly influence the level of job satisfaction.
