Body growth and metabolic profile of Tsigai lambs
Analyses of body growth and metabolic profile were made on 90 Tsigai growing lambs. During the suckling period (first 60 days) lambs were fed on milk and feed mixture (16% CP, 12 MJ ME/kg) and meadow hay but in fattenig period with equal feed mixture and meadow hay. Body weight and daily gain were determined after partus from each 15 day in suckling period untill weaning and in fattening period 1st, 25th and 50th days. Blood samples were collected on the end suckling and fattening period from the jugular vein. In the same time body measures (anamorphosis index, body proportion index and body condition score-BSC) and fecal scores (FS) were determined. Average birth body weight of lambs was 3.90 kg, after weaning 19.60 kg and at the end of the trial 36.17 kg. Average daily gain from suckling and fattening period of lambs were 262 and 331g. Anamorphosis index and body proportion index of suckling and fattening lambs were 89 and 42 and 150 and 66. BSC values and FS of suckling and fattening lambs were 3.2 and 1.7 and 3.6 and 1.6. The biochemical indicators (minerals, glucose, urea, total proteins) in lambs blood and enzyme activites confirmed sufficient nutrition supply. Based on this investigation, body growth and metabolic profile of Tsigai growing lambs may showe adequate stabling and nutritional status.
