Poly(L-lactide) and olive-stone flour microcomposites plasticized with tributylcitrate
The influence of tributyl citrate (TBC) as the plasticizer and olive-stone flour (OS) as the filler on thermal characteristics of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) were investigated. Composites were prepared by extrusion and characterized by DSC. Amount of TBC was up to 20% and the amount of olive-stone flour was up to 30%. Plasticizer lowers Tg of PLLA below room temperature, Tm to 153°C and Tcc to 72°C. The introduction of micro-sized olive-stone particles into a matrix of PLLA does not affect neither Tg and Tm, nor Tcc of PLLA. It was observed that each additive increase the crystallinity of PLLA.
