Influence of Phosphogypsum Application on SO42- S Losses with Drainage Water
Quantities of SO42- S leached by drainpipe water from drained Stagnosols of Central Croatia are determined in the period from 1997. to 2004. Trial treatments discussed here are two selected from totally 10 and these two are: 1. Fertilization with N250 PK and 2. Fertilization with N250 PK + Phosphogypsum. Application of phosphogypsum was carried out twice, in 1996. and in 2002. at the level of 12 tha-1. The field experiment was set up so that the area of each fertilizing treatment embedded two drainpipes in their full length (130 m). SO42- S concentration in drainage water varied in dependence on the crop type and development stage, on the fertilization, on the quantity and intensity of precipitation and on the drainage volume but it was primarily influenced with phosphogypsum application. In 8-year period, quantities of SO42- S leached with drainage water varied from 2, 9 to 21, 4 kgha-1, at the treatment without, and from 30, 4 to 145, 5 kgha-1 at treatment with phosphogypsum.
