The thiocarbamate as a corrosion inhibitor for CuNi10Fe alloy in seawater
The effect of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (NaDDTC) on corrosion of CuNi10Fe alloy in sea water has been investigated by means of linear polarization, potentiostatic polarization measurements, cyclic voltammetry and potential stepping experiments. In aerated and deareated sea water NaDDTC molecules act as an effective inhibitor. In contact whit this chelating agent a sparingly soluble complex with Cu ions has been formed which probably diminishes the porosity of corrosion product layer and so decreases oxygen reduction rate.
