Gilbert's Globe

The Gilbert Two-World perspective projection, although not well-known, does have extraordinary visual properties that make it an interesting and feasible substitute for the 3-D globe. The present paper describes a possibility of computer-aided 3-D globe modelling. Furthermore, the entire earth taken as a sphere is transformed onto each half of the globe, establishing thus the Gilbert's globe. That is the sphere with two conformal images of the earth. It represents the world as people usually see it, from space and in the round, but at the same time it represents the whole earth's surface.
