Some Problems Concerning Smoothing by Cubic Splines

In references one encounters various ways of understanding the meaning of the concept "smoothnig". The paper lists some formulations of the problem of smoothnig using cubic splines which were found in references, as well as some formulations of that problem which are now, together with their solutions, proposed by the autors of the present paper.
