Machining of Polymer Fibre Composite Materials
Composite materials are, due to their favourable strength to weight, and stiffness to weight ratios, have been increasingly used in demanding constructions. Their application in various industry branches has been increased, du to their favourable mechanical features and manufacture cost reduction. However, machining of composite materials presents a difficulty. The complexity of machining is mostly caused by the inability to draw off heat generated during the process. In order to achieve demanded quality, cutting tools need to satisfy special conditions, in view of construction, cutting geometry and material. In this paper an overview is given: composite materials features, applicatiuon of composite parts by use of laser and water jet and by using classic tools in view of increased quality of manufactured holes. Also, elements for forming a valuable matrix are given and decision maching for means and method that ensure the fabrication with expected effect.
