THE RELATION BETWEEN THE QUALITY OF CATALYST AND FEEDSTOCK IN THE HYDROTREATING PROCESS
The chatracteristics of raw material in relation to the characteristics of catalyst for the catalytic desulphurization and denitrification of Irak-Kirkuk oil products, which are used as feedstock for secondary catalytic processes, were investigated. The activity of commercial and newly synthesized catalyst was tested in pilit plant at various temperatures and space velocities. It was established that catalyst which contained boron more successfully cut polycondensed heterocyclic compounds, which is of a special importance in the hydtrotreating of heavy petroleum cuts. The reason for increase of activity of HDN and HDS catalysts which contain boron is probably in preventing interaction of Ni with carrier and in creatibng inactive spinels such as NiAl2O4. This enables the appearance of mixed sulphides, such as NixMoS2, which are supposed to be catalytically active.
