The essence of the interdisciplinary approach to the development of transport technology
Interdisciplinary character, as a basic prerequisite for the development of transport technology, appears to be more easily accessible in the scientific than in the scientific teaching process. Basically, science is free and the scientific teaching process is frequently inadequately adapted to requirements provided by interdisciplinary cooperation. Interdisciplinary character is often incorrectly presented as a mechanical sum total and a conglomerate of scientific cognitions not appropriately and functionally bound together to form a consistent whole. However, interdisciplinary approach is supposed in the first place to be subordinate in a concrete manner to the profile and physiognomy of a narrower, parent scientific branch or field representing the research area or the frame for the scientific teaching process going on. It is therefore impossible for new solutions in the development of transport technology to be sought within an exclusively interdisciplinary approach but rather through the establishment of a more meaningful balance between the narrower, parent knowledge and the remaining fundus of knowledge which should be secured on an interdisciplinary basis.
